Our Comprehensive Outdoor First Aid course is based on the topics included in the Workplace First Aid unit standards. With scenarios to practice your skills in an outdoor setting, you will use lateral thinking, skills, and techniques to transfer the theory learned into a more challenging environment.  Are you spending a considerable amount of time in the outdoors – either for work or recreation? And you want to learn essential first aid skills to cover the bases in your workplace as well as applying them in the outdoors? Then this course is for you.


NZQA Unit Standards 6402, 6401 and completion of a course assignment

Unit Standard 6402 – Provide basic life support (Level 1, Credits 1)

  • Scene Management
  • Primary Survey
  • CPR – Adult, Child, Infant
  • AED use
  • Choking – Adult, Child, Infant

Unit Standard 6401 – Provide first aid (Level 2, Credits 1)

  • Bleeding & Shock
  • Burns
  • Trauma (Injury)
  • Fractures, sprains & dislocations
  • Poisoning
  • Medical Conditions (Asthma, Heart attack, Diabetes, Stroke, Seizures)
  • Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis)

Unit Standard 6400 – Manage first aid in an emergency (Level 2, Credits 2)

  • Major wounds & burns
  • Head injuries
  • Severe allergic reactions/Anaphylaxis
  • Hyper- & Hypothermia (Heat & Cold emergencies)
  • Multiple casualty management
