About the STCW Courses
Triple One Care in partnership with MedAire is certified by Maritime New Zealand to offer First Aid Training Courses pursuant to rule 35.11 of Part 35 of Maritime NZ Rules and International Maritime conventions.
This course is relevant to commercial seafarers only.
Hands on, skills-based crew medical training ensures you and your crew are prepared, capable, and confident to respond to medical events.
All certificate achieved are valid for 5 years.
Elementary First Aid (EFA)
1-day practical course
The course provides seafarers with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to medical emergencies in the workplace or at sea. The course meets the requirements of the STCW Convention for seafarers and other safety-sensitive personnel.
This course meets the requirements for STCW Section A-VI/1, paragraphs 2.1.1.3.
Proficiency in Medical First Aid (PMFA)
4-day practical course (includes Elementary First Aid)
The course provides seafarers with the knowledge and practical skills required to take immediate and effective action in the event of illness or injury on board a vessel. The course meets the requirements of the STCW Convention and is intended for officers and designated personnel responsible for medical care at sea.
The programme builds on basic first aid training and focuses on the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of casualties where professional medical assistance may be delayed.
This course meets the requirements for STCW Section A-VI/4, paragraphs 1 to 3.
Proficiency in Medical Care (PMC)
5-day practical course
The course provides advanced training for masters and designated seafarers responsible for medical care on board ships. The course meets the requirements of the STCW Convention (Regulation A-VI/4, paragraphs 4 to 6) and prepares participants to take charge of medical emergencies where professional medical assistance is not immediately available.
This programme develops the knowledge and practical skills required to diagnose, treat, and manage illness and injury at sea, including the use of onboard medical equipment and medicines in accordance with international medical guides.
