About the NZ Resuscitation Council (NZRC) – CORE Immediate Course
The NZRC CORE Immediate programme is designed for healthcare professionals who may be required to manage the initial stages of a cardiac arrest before advanced assistance arrives. Formerly known as NZRC Level 4 Resuscitation, this course covers the assessment and management of both adult and paediatric emergencies.

- Vaccinators
- Anaesthetic technicians
- Radiographers
- Emergency medical technicians (EMTs)
- Hospital and community health professionals
- Dentists
Certification is achieved by successfully completing a 6-hour practical training session, during which participants demonstrate competence in simulated emergency scenarios, including:
- Practical resuscitation skills
- Management of collapse and medical emergencies
- Recognition and treatment of anaphylaxis, including the use of adrenaline (for authorised practitioners)
Pre-Course Requirements
All participants are required to read the NZRC Resuscitation – A Guide for Health Professionals
This resource contains the theory and knowledge that supports the practical components of the course and is available for purchase through the NZRC website here, or we can arrange the purchase or hire of the resource book.
A formal tertiary qualification in a health-related discipline is required to enrol in this course.

Course Availability
We also offer NZRC CORE Immediate Adult CPR, a 4-hour course designed for practitioners who require adult resuscitation training only.
Minimum Participant Numbers
CORE courses require a minimum of four participants to proceed. If minimum numbers are not reached, the course will be rescheduled. Participants will be notified as early as possible should this occur.
