About our Coastguard Medic courses
Coastguard Coastal Medic – NZQA
8 hours in the classroom plus up to 4 hours online self-directed study – up to 16 participants on a course.
This course is a Coastal Medic course plus an online module to achieve NZQA unit standards.
The course is facilitated and assessed to achieve NZQA New Zealand First Aid unit standards 6402, 6401 and 6400. It is ideal for mariners who wish to attain New Zealand first aid compliance alongside their marine qualification.
At the conclusion of this course, you will receive a certificate of completion for your Coastguard Coastal Medic course which is valid for five years for Maritime New Zealand Compliance, plus a New Zealand First Aid Certificate which is valid for two years with NZQA.
Coastguard Offshore Medic
8 hours in the classroom – up to 12 participants on a course
An intense one-day course for blue water sailors where patient care is prolonged as emergency medical services are arranged. Training includes the use of appropriate Advance Life Support equipment. The course is compliant to Maritime New Zealand requirements for port clearance to overseas destinations.
Prerequisite: A current Coastal Medic certificate.
