About the ALS Immediate Course

We are a registered provider of specialist first aid courses for Medical and Dental professionals (providing RA sedation only), Surgical units, Dental Therapists, Nurses, Dental Hygienists, Orthodontic Auxiliaries, and Clinical Dental Technicians undertaking restricted activities. Previously known as Level 4 Resuscitation.

This is a ALS Immediate course that runs for 4 hours (it does not include a skill or theory assessment).

Certification requires a practical session (4 hours) where the student demonstrates simulated practical skills in these areas:

  • Practical skills of resuscitation.
  • Scenarios for the management of collapse and medical emergencies.
  • Anaphylaxis – Use of Adrenaline for those authorised to administer.

Participants are required to read the NZDC “Medical Emergency in Dental Practice “ including Appendix A – Specific Responses and Appendix B – Quick Reaction Guide. You can download a copy here.

“Resuscitation – A Guide for Health Professionals to Resuscitation” is an excellent additional resource and recommended reading. It can be purchased on the NZRC website.

Private courses can be arranged at the client’s convenience, at your venue or ours. Levels of training available include: Basic Life Support, ALS, CORE Skills, CORE Immediate and CORE Advanced.

Triple One Care also offers the following courses relevant to the Medical and Dental industry:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is a 2-hour course in basic resuscitation skills for Dental Technicians, Dental Assistants, Nurses, and Administration staff.
  • CORE Advanced is a course for Medical and Dentists/Dental Specialists performing sedation other than relative analgesia (Dentists using RA only need to complete a ALS Immediate course).
